Being an earth religions practitioner. Hmmm...How to explain it.
I would say it is finding the sacred in the branches of trees, and listening for the words of "God" in the winds that caress them.
It is looking at the sky and seeing pictures painted by the divine...a spiritual energy that really doesn't have a name, but whose hand can be seen to have fashioned the landscapes, and the mountains, and the veins in tiny leaves.
it is finding God in more than just books....more than in stories from eons ago. It's about finding God in the second you are in at any given moment....it's about lying on the ground on a hill top beneath the moon and realizing you are surrounded by the beauty of the divine....in the leaves, the trees, the flowers, the people you hear in the distance.
It is about finding God within your own spirit...not separate and on a throne in heaven....but right there with you, in your heart and mind, guiding you to do the right thing, even if you do not know the "old Stories", or even believe in them completely.
It is about realizing that "God" is not contained within the confines of gender, but that "God" is shapeless, constantly changing, enveloping you in love and flying across the fields a second later to kiss the cheek of a newborn.
In Earth religions, at least to me, God is "the ALL". Neither male nor female, yet embodying attributes of both. And "God" is the same God, regardless of the names that people come up with.
In Earth Religions, I do not have to drive 25 miles to a church...I have only to step outside my door and I am there, in my place of worship.
In earth religions, I am not separate from the divine...I am surrounded and enveloped by it.
I am an earth religions practitioner who is not limited by dogma or fear. I do good things in life, not because I am commanded to, and not because I am afraid not to, and not because I think I will be rewarded. I do good deeds when I can, because I can, and to do so is my thank you for my many blessings.
