Greetings all...
First off, yes, I am still alive. No, I have not given up on deviantart...I still check it every day and add things when I can. I am just very dedicated to homeschooling, and really enjoying my job as director of religious education at the UU church I spoke about in my last entry. The family is well...everyone is doing really good.
K and D decided about 6 months ago to take up Parkour and Free running as a father/son gig. They take Parkour classes together, and even though I worry...I love the philosophy behind it, and want to encourage them to get better and better at it.
I have posted a few of their pictures, portraying them at Parkour Practice. In doing so, I have had quite a few people asking me what Parkour is. I figured I would give my definition and then if anybody was interested further, they could research it online (and at Youtube, which has videos and tutorials on Parkour and Free Running.)
What is Parkour:
Parkour is the art of movement...using your surroundings to move from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible, allowing no obstacle to prevent you from reaching that goal.
It is a form of exercise...a discipline and a philosophy that applies, not just to the physical body, but to the spiritual and/or philosophical mind. Male Parkour enthusiasts are known as Traceurs. A female Parkour practitioner is known as a Treceuse.
Here are a few videos of some REALLY good parkour and free running (With flips and tumbling) Traceurs....these are who my son looks on as heroes in the genre of Parkour....
